Quite a bit of money. Are there any steps being taken to ensure the future of these funds? I.e. creating a Nim foundation for managing these large assets, extracting some of the funds, and investing them elsewhere? Bitcoin has previously been a bit of a roller coaster and I would definitively like to see this donation be put to good use and not just sit in a drawer and potentially lose all its value. Diversification is key to any portifolio, and keeping all of this as Bitcoin might not be the smartest financial decision.
Nothing against Bitcoin or Ethereum by the way, just want to make sure these things have been taken into account.
That is just awesome to hear, really guys. You all deserve it. Shout out to Araq, core developers, and every single volunteer for this absolute monster of a language.
The future is Nim <3
For example, is anyone getting payed, who and how much in such cases?
The money lets me sleep rather well for now. ;-)
But joking aside, I'm exploring our options, I will give you an update once I have something to say.
Nice thanks :)
But you can still answer what all the money you have gotten up until now have been used for ;) Or has it only been piled up on a bank account somewhere? I've gotten the impression from reading the chat over time that some people are paid to do work on the compiler but I haven't really got a grasp on who they are. So clarification on that front would be nice as well :)

Ah the infamous decadence of programmers. ;)
I assume it is something like narimiran, Araq, xflywind, and timotheecour, but I can't be certain.
The fulltime paid devs are me and Narimiran; xflywind is paid for his work too but he is not a fulltime developer yet. We also sponsor Kiloneie's work on the "education" YouTube videos.
Via OpenCollective you can receive money for bugfixes too, just get in touch with us and we can add bounties.
