Quick feedback:
"This Month With Nim" sounds like it's a news update on Nim, not a community showcase.
You probably want it linked from somewhere on the website :D
There probably need to be strong, well-explained posting criteria for it. You don't want everyone posting the 2 lines of Nim they wrote that month. Nor would it be good to have the same projects month after month unless there are substantial updates to them.
Thanks for doing this, Beef.
I would deprioritize or ignore "feedback" that's just more work rather than less and no real evidence that it's any better. Especially if it's not actionable. Like basically everything @matthias said, or what I'm writing.
The name is fine, I wouldn't stress about it, but if something better comes up go with it. Here are some alternatives in that vein that if you don't like feel free to ignore: "Nim Around the World", "Nim and Friends Monthly", or "Nim Roundup".
This reminds me of a weekly version called Haxe Roundup. Even with the content that repeats weekly it was still something to look forward to. A bunch of it can be farmed and automated and that stuff gets shown later. Yeah, it might seem like filler but you don't know first time readers from long time veteran. Besides repetition is the key to getting the message across. Hopefully your workload stays low, it's easy to show consistency which has its own value as people giving you content trust the cadence and readers new and old will look forward to it, "filler" works otherwise it wouldn't be used. Replicating larger scale efforts from bigger community management and outreach teams. Point is let people repeat things and adjust guidelines if you want a different outcome.
Great initiative. Name is perfect, please, no more new "worlds" of stuff, it's beaten to death. If we aimed for generic tongue-in-cheek name, with some imagination it could be "In Nim's realm".
Some people will think their stuff is too small for a pr, or just won't bother, even though it could be great, so maybe we could also have a monthly thread here, you know, for the shy.
Also, we need "arewecpsyet.com".
@ElegantBeef has created an introductory post and: https://nim-lang.org/blog/2021/01/26/this-month-with-nim.html
Now it is up to you (plural, community) to submit your projects (or projects from others you find interesting and useful).
