In the times of Corona traditional conferences with physical interactions are becoming out of fashion. So here is our idea: Let's have an online Nim conference. We need to decide on a date and a time table and decide on which streaming software to use...
Speakers can apply here in this thread.
Great idea. Happy to help with promoting and setting this up.
I should be able to come up with something to talk about too :)
Such a great idea, Andreas! I would like to showcase Nim for web with a complete chat example.
I've done this talk at a local frontend conference, and it went pretty well, despite me failing to run the app at the end (I promise to fix it this time 😀).
I'll cover Karax, WebSockets, and JS FFI.
Twitch is probably the best place to stream things... then archive on Youtube.
I can give a presentations on following topics:
This is very interesting, i am really looking forward this.
Do you think someone could talk about nimpy? Its a really useful tool, but i cant find any examples about it.
Fidget Library and Desktop/Web UI programming.
@treeform I vote for this topic. :-)
The time schedule for the talks can now be found at https://conf.nim-lang.org
And you can now directly see the NimConf 2020 youtube playlist where you can click on 'set reminder' for the videos you would like to be notified before they air.
NimConf 2020 was streamed yesterday, and IMO it was a great success!
It was the first time for us doing such a thing, and it went quite smoothly. There are some details we would like to improve for NimConf 2021, for which we are hoping it will be even better — if you have a feedback about NimConf 2020, we would like to hear it!
We would like to thank all of our presenters for coming up with the interesting topics, recording the videos, and for answering all the questions that came up during the live chat with the audience.
Also thanks to all who participated as live audience! We hope you had fun watching the talks and interacting with the authors, and learned something new about Nim, its libraries and cool projects.
If you have missed any of the talks, the whole conference (15 talks!) is available for later watching in our NimConf 2020 playlist.
I watched several of the talks and they were all great. I also saw a lot of discussion in hacker news which I think is also a very good sign.
Thanks a lot to all the presenters for taking the time to prepare these great talks!
Once again a big "Thanks you" to every speaker, the quality of the talks were high throughout and the fact that every speaker was online during the stream and replied to questions made it even more enjoyable.
Coming soon: A hackathon? How to organize one?
