I always felt a tiny bit uncomfortable with the name Nim- it has a nice ring to it, but a shortened version of Nimrod just seamed a bit lacking in mystiqued.
Now I just found out that that "Nim" means "steal". There's even a mathematical stealing-game called "Nim". Everything fell into place.
Good Artists Borrow, Good Artists Steal- and Nim stole so many good ideas from other languages it's a proper loot box. A bonafide collection of plunder, exquisite stolen artifacts perfectly curated, it's like visiting the London museum.
It's a real weight off my chest! Coding became instantly more fun now that I realized the name perfectly sums um why Nim is the language to rule them all.
Good Languages Borrow, Great Languages Nim.
image from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winning_Ways_for_Your_Mathematical_Plays which covers the subject of nim game in considerable depth (next paragraph is "Get Nimble with Nimbers" :D)
Man "Nim" means half (½) in Persian.
Even worse, "Go" means "sh!t" in Persian 😂
My professor says to me "C" is 60 times bigger than "Nim", and he laughs
Thats absurd! I'm sure a competent C programmer can write same software less than 10 times LOC ;)
