Why do you have to call createHandle so much? What is the significance of having a handle vs not?

@treeform, createHandle is the function where the actual call to CreateWindowEx is happening. Users can change the default values of any control right before it is created. But yeah, if you think calling createHandle too much time is annoying, I can add a boolean parameter to the constructor. If that's true, there will be no need to call the createHandle function. But constructor proc is setting the default values to a type. Anyways, thank you for the suggestion.

thank you for this. i recently tried using nimx, but it wouldnt compile (i literally just copied the example code on the page), saying there were 13 errors in the library itself. shame

this just worked. it's awesome, nice and simple to write and good customisation options. thank you for your work

It would be nice if we could have a very simple crossplatform gui library for windows, linux and macos.

All the time I need to write such a gui, I have to use python's tk..

Tried, doesn't work for me. Windows 7 here. Is it possible that i cannot find a decent GUI library? What's a programming language without a decent GUI framework? I tried all or almost all of nim UI libraries and every single one has one problem or the other. When i read about winforms i was happy and eager to try. I am an amateur( really amateur) programmer, all i want is visual things, a decent GUI library, with a decent video component to make a multimedia app, with video and images. Is it so difficult to have this in 2023? Should we still make command line apps? I mean hardcore programmers like those things, but i don't, i'm not hardcore. I like nim but as with many other languages i tried, python, ruby, and so on they all lack this. And please don't start with the 'web technology story. I don't like it and i don't care that the world is moving there. Desktop apps are yours, they are local to your computer, they belong to you. Instead the masters of the universe want everything on the cloud so you will pay for everything. I go against the sheeple and the crowd and so if they are moving there i move back to desktop apps and i demand a fu...king decent GUI framework with video capability out of the box. Understand!!! :)))

Yes, I do. Now learn more so that you outgrow your amateurism and so that you can help. Or at least submit bug reports. Or maybe sponsor the people willing to create this new age of desktop GUIs.

Now i found the issue. You need the manifest file in your exe's location. I will upload the manifest file in my repo. You just need to place it near your exe file.

What you said about GUI libraries is quite amateurish. I had similar thoughts in the beginning. I sent a mail to the creator of Python in 2010. Asking if a language without a visual GUI designer is too bad. He answered it very maturely. But as I slowly learned programming and progressed, I understood when it was 2015. We don't need any visual UI designer. Real programming means writing code. Anyhow, I have plans to make a visual designer for my Nimforms library. Only if time permits.

@mx1990, manifest file added to the repo. Just download it and place on your exe location. But remember one thing. The name of the manifest fie and exe file must match. For example, if your exe file's name is app.exe, then your manifest file must be app.exe.manifest. Otherwise it won't work. So, place the file and compile it again. It will work. Happy coding.
