  Hello world ! Everybody here loves Nim very much. But the fact is that our common baby is one of the less known languages. It's only used by a very low percentage of programmers. I'm sure that, if more people heard about it and its advantages, they would choose it. I'm also sure that, if we join our efforts, and work hard, we can make our language twice popular (or even more) in few weeeks.

  I create this thread for us to think and discuss together about what we can do to popularize Nim.

  We can create facebook groups in different languages, but with similar names (like nimlang_fr, nimlang_es, nimlang_it). Because some people would like to ask their questions on this forum, but they don't speak English. Even me, I find English hard, because I'm Francophone. Those groups will serve as Nim communities in their respective languages. What do think about that ?

  In addition to facebook I think using youtube, reddit,stackoverflow is vital for spreading the word. There is a guy on stackoverflow that everytime he answer a question about programming he mentions how great Smalltalk is. He is relentless in his mission to get people to use it, that is how I discovered Smalltalk actually.

  I have thought the same for this reason I made a video on YouTube and shared it on Facebook groups. When I did this, I realized that there is a huge percentage who do not know about the existence of Nim since they began to ask me about the language.

  I've stated this somewhere else but in my free time I plan on making a Youtube channel. Just bought the headphones a couple of days ago. Anyways, the plan for me is just make videos of building cool shit with Nim and talk about it. I made a mini Pokemon game with SDL2 in Nim and I think a lot of people might find that cool and interesting enough to code it and learn Nim along with me.

  I had a similar idea, but haven't really found the time or motivation to do anything yet. Maybe when I start making progress on my game I'll start posting devlogs, of course mentioning Nim's more amazing features that make game development a breeze :)

  Do many people discuss programming topics on Facebook? That seems weird to me. I know FB is huge, but I've almost never come across links to technical topics on FB. (Coincidentally, I also believe FB is a force for evil, and I wouldn't be there at all if it weren't the only practical way to stay in touch with friends.)

  I think it's important to write blog posts, link to them on Hacker News / Lobste.rs / etc., and upvote them. (Lobste.rs is how I discover niche programming topics like new languages, including Nim.) I've been letting my blog languish for years, but I really should write about Nim there.

  You've right. But there are few programming groups on fb. I try to catch programmers's attention to Nim with publications like this: "Don't choose between C's performance and python's ease. Choose both. Choose Nim. https://nim-lang.org"
