9420 :: NimConf 2022 - registrations

  After two very successful Nim conferences in last two years, it is time for our third annual conference — NimConf 2022.

  The format will be the same as in previous years: The talks are pre-recorded and the authors participate in live chat with the audience. The talks can be anywhere between 10 and 45 minutes long.

  A valid topic is anything Nim-related. You can see the talks from 2020 and 2021 to get an idea what to talk about. (And if you're one of the authors of those talks - we would like to hear about your progress since then.)

  The date of the conference will be October 22nd, and to participate you need to fill this form until September 18th — for now it is enough to just submit the title of your talk and some minor details. (Once you're contacted and your talk is accepted, you will have time until October 9th to submit the video of your talk.)

  It'd be great to have a guided tour of the compiler internals! Reading the "Internals of the Nim Compiler" guide is helpful and you can dive into the source but having an expert hold your hand and tell you about the files and types that really matter or how to debug issues like a pro can help demystify things. Someone suggested I give that talk, but I'd feel like an impostor and I don't have a webcam.

  Maybe it's too big of an idea to do, but here is my suggestion: Show how easy it is to code in Nim, all kinds of usual, everyday tasks that a dev is likely to need. It may also expose where we fail.

  cool. more examples: xml and json files, serializing or changing a value, xpath style perhaps. downloading a file over the internet, sending an email, connecting to nntp, receiving a feed. creating a small gui app. connecting to sqlite, and storing state or records in it. stuff like that, simple, local, no setup, low memory overhead.

  I am interested also, in seeing the fuzzers at work, the new drchaos, and drnim. Also state of IC and how to use it, if possible.
