The '\n' escape character does exist in Nimrod.
echo("foo\nbar")
Results in:
foo
bar
Nimrod disallows its usage in a character type however. The following is not allowed:
echo('\n')
Because '\n' may be one or more characters.
There is a set in the strutils module which defines the characters which start a newline; http://build.nimrod-code.org/docs/strutils.html#108
"\c\L" is the equivalent to "\r\n" and should be used for network communication. More information can be found here: http://build.nimrod-code.org/docs/manual.html#string-literals
Edit: To count the number of lines in a string, you can do something like this:
var count = "string\nlorem\nipsum\n".splitLine().len
The registration lapsed and it got bought by dropcatch.com. You can probably understand what they're about from the name.
To the question, 'n' is a character now, but usually you want strutils.Newlines, a set[char]
