Hello everyone! I know the title is a bit of a lie but let me present myself first.
My name is Victor. I'm a young student living in France (that why my English could sometimes be bad). I'm 17 years old and will soon be 18. I actually have a site.
My passion is all about programming. I have been learning to program and familiarize myself with this environment for several years now. So, I started to make a name for myself, not only because of the groups I've been with for several years (I'm thinking in particular of the NaN group born after group 42) but also because of the different creations I've been able to make during all these years of learning. And it's about one of this creation I come here!
I'v been developing Sielo for several years now. It was a really great experience since I learnd many things. I also started to build a little, but strong, community around me. Then, what is Sielo?
Currently, it's a basic web browser with some cool features as "Tabs Space". You can see more on the site or on the GitHub repository. But with this community, we want to stop developing Sielo as it exist for now. During this years of development we studied how web browsers are today, and we start with the idea to create a new web browser that will be completely different from others and that could change the way we navigate through the web.
It's an ambitious project, I know it, but it's not a project from a young boy who never know anything about project management. I come with a few years of experiment, a community and its ideas behind me. We've already thing about it and we. started to design some maquette of the UI. I let you see the most advanced one
Also available and dynamic on InVision
We've also discussed about what will be the architectur of this new version since we want to build something strong and durable. After that, the question of the language we'll use came, and we chooses Nim.
So?! Why this really long post and why Nim?
Thanks for asking, it's a great question =P
As I like to say to my community:
I chose Nim because it is a very promising language. It is less developed than Rust, but we didn't want to start over on C++ because we wanted to start on something that would be safer for bad coders. A bad coder is still a bad coder but it is easier to make mistakes in C++.
So why Nim rather than Rust? Because for the past 4 years, Sielo has been evolving with his community and me. Through (Sielo) Jennysis, I want to carry a message of the future and a project that is beginning to flourish. Nim is easier to handle than Rust which is an undeniable weight. Moreover, using Nim for Sielo is to carry the same message of the future for one's language. I prefer to screw up with a language by wanting to make it evolve as I want to make the way of using web browsers evolve with Sielo, or even better to succeed by taking with me a language that I believe will be the future.
What I also loved with Nim is its community. I come here because I'm sure we can work together in such a big project and I'm pretty sure you'll be interested. I hope I will be able to help you with Sielo as Nim and its community will be able to help me. What you can be sure of is that I brang you few users in my community by doing the choice to use Nim.
Thank you very much for those who read my post, hop you enjoyed it!
