In case you run into some of those “couldn’t render historic post”, a workaround to know the content is to take advantage of nimforum api, for example: https://forum.nim-lang.org/post.rst?id=57035 shows the source of the post that opens this thread: https://forum.nim-lang.org/t/8754
more example on non renderable posts can be found searching for historic post site:forum.nim-lang.org
GitHub issue for this bug: https://github.com/nim-lang/nimforum/issues/330
When I see post like this I can't help but go back to @dom96's comment and laugh :
The forum is a great showcase of what Nim can do and allows us to dogfood which makes Nim better for everyone.
In 2023, if you want to see post history on forum you need to manually download rst file. What a great showcase and what Nim can do, indeed !
But hey, let's look at the bright side : since there is no search feature and we can't save post or view a user (or our own) post history, this probable doesn't happen too often.
No need to render old post, if you can't look for it; very smart :)
had to check what ib4 means... so, I will ask something different. who has the power right now to deploy a new version of the forum? It seems that is the main point of friction currently. I can see @ringabout has now the power to merge, which is great news (thanks for all your work)! ❤️
And since search is not great, I will link last relevant discussion we had on the forum (Jan 22, one year ago, time of last forum update): https://forum.nim-lang.org/t/8852
Nice, bookmarked. Let's hope this one doesn't turn into “couldn’t render historic post”
my hope is that your bookmark (and this post) would be soon obsolete :)
