Every time I try to run a nim file in BASH (Nim c -r filename.nim) or compile and run in VS Code it gives me a file not found error. Is there a way to fix this?

I think we'll need a little more information to be able to properly help you. Depending on the exact error this could mean one of several things:

The compiler cannot find the input file filename.nim

Your program is importing another nim file that cannot be found.

Your program is trying to open another file that cannot be found.

Please copy and paste the command you are running and the exact output. It may also be helpful to show your nim file. If your nim file is more than a few lines, please try to create a small file, ideally less than 10 lines, that causes the same error to occur and post that as well.

When you type nim -v under Bash, what do you get? Just to be sure that your file not found message is about not finding the Nim compiler or your source file...

The error even occured when just doing Hello World. The only line in the file was echo "Hello World" I typed nim c -r hello.nim and the error came up. I will paste an imgur link so you can look at my problem.

Run finish.exe please and install GCC via it.

@XxDiCaprioxX your path to gcc is wrong. There is a trailing slash gcc.exe\ which should not be there so windows thinks you are referring to a directory and not an exe, so the gcc command fails. You possibly have an environment variable that is specifying it incorrectly.

I ran it but it only gives me:

"MingW installation found at C:nim-1.2.4_x64nim-1.2.4distmingw64bin Do you want to patch Nim's config to use this? (Not required since it's in your PATH!) (y/n)" And whether I choose y or n, nothing changes

I went into my environment variables and in the path variable (the top one) it says "C:nim-1.2.4_x64nim-1.2.4distmingw64bin" which seems right. I'm confused af now

Try cmd.exe and not bash.

It's likely not your path variable and is instead CC or something similar. If you are in bash, execute the env command and search for gcc: env | grep gcc. If you are on windows cmd.exe, execute SET and look for gcc.

I fixed the mistake, for some reason the system assumed the path was leading to my desktop, somehow? I still have no idea about the trailing slash but another reinstallation with the folder on the desktop worked for me
