  The alloc.nim bug existed in 0.18.0, so we really do need a new release. How close are we to 0.18.1? If not close, could we have a patch for 0.18.0?

  I was going to try putting nim in conda-forge/feedstocks -- maybe as "nim-lang" -- so it might become easier to add Nim executables to bioconda. E.g.

  https://github.com/bioconda/bioconda-recipes/tree/master/recipes/hts-nim-tools

  That rebuilds the nim compiler in order to build these tools. For now, I'll just follow that pattern.

  0.19 is overdue but there are still hard to fix regressions left. If 0.19 doesn't make it this month, we will backport the most pressing problems to 0.18.2. :-/

  I thought the numbers in versions mean year and month, so I wouldn't expect 0.19.0 anytime before 2019 :-) I guess this assumption was wrong ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  it's called semantic versioning or semver for short.

  Yeah I thought Nim adhered to calver rather than semver. Seems to be neither :-)

  By that logic, v1.0 would be released in year [integer overflow]. Seems accurate enough! :D :D

  Nim does follow semver with the additional rule that odd patch numbers are development versions and never released. I don't think that contradicts semver.
