  Ok, I don't have a reddit account yet, but I would like to contribute a bit. But I need some feedback here on this thread where I am posting what I am testing. I would like to transform it into something that can be added to the documentation. There are things that are just weired in my opinion, for example why can't I write foo[7](). Also I would like to know which values are actually allowed to be passed as generices as a static[] argument? I know I can pass intergers, but may I pass seq may I pass openarray may I pass constant size arrays? When I try something I don't know if what I am trying should actually be illegal but it is somehow not caught, or if it should work, but there are some corner cases where it might crash.

  How do you "classify" templates/macros?

  • lifting existing procs to handle new data types
  • reducing repetition of code
  • lazy evaluation (eliminate evaluation when not required)
  • DSL handling
  • typedesc/symbol/object management, name mangling, ....
  • ??

  The reason I ask, is I was wondering about logically classifying macros in the tutorial#2, and then giving examples of each classification (or point to where it is used in modules).
