2103 :: Whither "method"?

  Some time ago Araq mentioned that he wished that he hadn't included method in the language and that he was considering its deprecation. I'm curious as to what the current plan is. I'm not watching the IRC, maybe it's discussed there? Will method be in Nim 1.0?

  I highly doubt that methods will be removed from the language. As much as Araq may grumble about them, they are just too convenient when using references whose true types may not be known at runtime. Yes, vtables (structures containing procedure pointers) can be more performant, however they require consideration of all the possible procedure types that are needed at declaration time, and impose certain storage requirements.
