Is your C compiler working at all, may it be an 32/64 bit issue, are you using windows or macos?

Well the Nim compiler and C compiler need to agree on the size of a pointer. The assertion exists to detect installation problems. Most likely you picked the wrong Mingw download or have some other GCC in your path.
