I don't know if there are plans but i would like some more info on how to program in nim maybe it would be a good idea to go really in depth in a book and sell it on amazon for araq.
From my perspective being a self taught programmer/noob books are valuable to me and since i had frustrations with c++ i went looking for another language and found nim.
But i'm still a noob and i need more in depth knowledge of this stuff so... seems like a good idea to support the project and araq to have a good in depth book.
i dunno just a thought.
Yes, of course a good Nim book would be fine. But what would it mean for the author. At least 1000 hours of work, and maybe selling 100 pieces, where authors generally get a few $ per piece. And who can wrote a really good book beside Andreas itself? I think only very few, and they may be busy.
But the manual, this forum, the examples and the IRC logs are good sources for information already.
The manual is really well done and very informative, and combined with Rosetta Code and the articles listed here there are some great resources for getting started in Nim.
Personally I agree with Stefan - after all the effort and time a detailed book would take, these resources are probably better spent on the language/stdlib itself until after 1.0 is released. Besides, it'd be out of date by the time it was released as Nim is evolving very rapidly anyway.
EDIT: I don't want to speak for him, but I think I remember Araq saying he was considering/compiling a book on Nim in the future.
