Is it possible for nimble to make use of other repositories than the official one?

As far as I understand, dependencies are pulled by git repos, which should make it easy to run things locally, but the index where to find libraries seems to be hardcoded

If its hardcoded im pretty sure PR that implements command line switch for alternate repos would not be rejected.

The packages.json URL can be given as an optional argument to the nimble update command. It defaults to https://github.com/nim-lang/packages/raw/master/packages.json. I think you can also put it directly in the nimble directory.

Nice. :-) It would be even better if one could supply more than one package.json per project (the equivalent of resolvers in ivy/sbt parlance)

The format is pretty straightforward, it should be easy to write a tool to merge two or more package directory files.
